A 14 Day journey with horses from South Africa to the Limpopo River bordering Botswana
Situated in the most northern point of the Drakensberg, we begin all our horse journeys from our horse base and the Equi-Centre in Houtbosdorp; the land where afromonate forest meets bushveld. Many years ago Houtbosdorp was a place of trade and transport, where the historical Zeederberg coach drawn by 8 – 10 horses used to stop to deliver post and transport travellers to Rhodesia (today Zimbabwe).
Journeys on horseback are not only a chance to experience an authentic adventure with horses and how we travelled on our journey around South Africa (Riding for Horses between 2009 – 2011), but also a chance to travel like the early settlers used to in the olden days of the 1800s. Our main priority on our journeys are the wellbeing and safety of our horses and riders alike. We travel barefoot and bitless building on a relationship of trust and companionship between horse and rider.
